Lutz S. Freudenberg is senior physician in a radiology and nuclear medicine network practice (Grevenbroich-Dormagen-Neuss, Germany) and Professor at the Dept of Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital Essen, Germany. Since 2010 Prof Freudenberg is member of the Board of the German Association of Nuclear Medicine. In addition to his medical degree, Prof Freudenberg holds degrees in Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology from the University of Göttingen, Germany and an MBA from the University Lüneburg, Germany. Over the past 10 years Lutz Freudenberg has been instrumental in supporting the clinical evaluation of combined imaging, first, with the introduction of the first PET/CT system in Europe at the University Hospital in Essen and, more recently, with the integration of a combined SPECT/CT imaging into the services of his radiology network. Dr Freudenberg and his team paved the way for routine applications of PET/CT in patients with thyroid cancer using 124-I for image-guided therapy planning. Prof. Freudenberg is author and co-author of over 120 scientific publications. Further, using his extensive expertise in didactics and educational media he initiated and maintains a popular e-learning concept for courses in Nuclear Medicine.
